Madeline has been transferred! This is a normal process in missions. Every six weeks, the mission president prayerfully considers where every missionary is placed and seeks the Lord’s will about where they should be. When they feel prompted by the Spirit, he makes changes to get the missionary where the Lord wants them to be. This transfer, the Lord wants Madeline to go to a new area and have a new companion.
Her old companions, Hermana Montoya and Hermana Antonio, will stay in Carolina. Madeline is going to Cabo Rojo to be a companion with Hermana Zimmerman.
Hermana Zimmerman is from a city very close to our home. It’s funny that you can go half a world away and be companions with a neighbor. I’m sure they will help each other greatly.
Cabo Rojo <Cape Red> is on the Southwest corner of the island of Puerto Rico and is as Madeline describes it, beach territory.

Here is a little closer view of the area:

I’m not sure how much of this will be Madeline’s area, but here is an even closer view of Cabo Rojo:

There aren’t the same type of commercial facilities available as in Carolina. No Costco, no Panda, no Cold Stone. The only place I could find that was similar was Walgreens. But there are some great places and Madeline really loves cooking on her own and learning the local techniques, so she will do well.
To get an idea of what it looks like there, here are some pictures contributed from the Internet.

By the way, don’t worry about your letters. That is one reason we send them to the mission office. In this way, no matter when you send letters or packages, they will always get to her.
One thing is for sure. This is where the Lord wants her to be. So we can watch as Madeline applies her love and devotion to the people of Cabo Rojo and see what grows.
Brett
