Mamí… donde estas papí? (Mom… where’s dad?)

Hola a todos! <Hello everyone!>

So how’s everyone? good? good.

I’m pretty OK. Honestly stressed out of my mind and super uncomfortable with my new position of authority but besides that, I’m good.

Here’s a fun thing I’ve learned recently: God does not joke around when he gives you a kid. Here in the mission we call the greenies “hija” or “daughter” and the trainers “mami” or “mom.” It’s an endearing thing that we do to make us feel closer together and stuff. Fun thing is that it literally feels like I have a child. She’s learning a lot right now and I have to teach her everything and I’ve come to a realization that the fact that God trusted me to help her in this hecka hard mission journey she’s on is an absolute honor. Te amo mi hijita Hna Peter. ❤

I’ve also come to a realization that all my friends are crazy for starting to get married and having kids. I cannot imagine having a child at the age I am. It’s hard enough just teaching a few languages and teaching skills to one of my peers… but a baby? Not even something I’m close to considering possible. At least not for a very long time.

Here comes that explanation for why the title literally says, “mom… where’s dad?” Hna Peter is very, very funny and it’s even funnier because we only speak in Spanish which is definitely not her first language or her second. So when she speaks it’s actually really cute and endearing with her broken Spanish. But one of the first things she says to me when I show her some pictures of my friends on my walls is this, “Mamí… donde estas papí?” It broke me up laughing. We had just finished talking about our lives before the mission and she asks me this because she doesn’t know the word for boyfriend. She was trying to ask me where a picture of my boyfriend is (no, I don’t have a boyfriend). I had to explain to her that the word for boyfriend is “novio” noy <not> “papí.” lol.

Funny little story for you to see a bit into our lives of miscommunication and inability to understand each other. But we get along. 😊 She actually knows quite a bit of English from her MTC time so it’s not too rough.

But once again I don’t have a lot of pictures this week, so here’s a video of my companion dancing with Hna. Green. Les amo <I love them>. More pictures next week. 🙂  Stories too probs.
