Hola a todos!
It’s getting harder and harder to go between Spanish and English. Let me tell you. Wow.
We were in Viejo San Juan today for an Actividad de Zona and I had the hardest time talking to the toursitas. Not that I’m a Boriquen now, it’s just thinking in two languages takes So. Much. Energy. I can definitely feel el don del linguas en mi vida.
Viejo San Juan is beautiful by the way. I couldn’t get enough of the cute little streets. Yet it’s basically a hole for tourists. But the actual buildings reminded me of San Francisco for the most part. I tried to take some cute pictures, but we were running around a lot. A weird thing I noticed was that they told us not to proselyte. I guess it’s just hard to teach tourists and everyone who isn’t a tourist is working. Too bad, it would be fun to try and place LDM’s in Viejo San Juan.
For all my sports fans out there, I’ll let you know a little fun fact about Puerto Rico. No one likes football Americano. Literally no one. So I’ll have to relearn how to watch that when I get home. But everyone here loves the big 3: pelota, volibol, y balencesto. I don’t remember what they’re called in English (curse my bad memory).
But pelota is so huge they have this craze right now for equipo Puerto Rico. All the youth and some older people are dying their hair blonde. They call themselves Equipo Rubio and it’s a sign that they’re rooting for PR to win against the USA in the worldwide pelota series. Or something like that. You guys should look it up, it’s crazy how many people are blonde here now. I’m no longer the only blonde one in Carolina. Also, people mistake me for a sports fan a lot now. Psh. If only they knew how little I knew about watching sports.
And big finale: BEATRIZ BAUTIZARSE!
It was a great day/night and we had a lot of fun. I hope you guys get to see bautismos wherever you are because the spirit is tan fuerte (cue Dominican finger snapping). And members/investigators/misioneras/family of members, whatever you are, everyone is welcome to watch un bautismo. I encourage you guys to attend any that happen in your area. I’ll attach pictures too.
Oh and by the way see her cute daughter holding the frozen build-a-bear? She’s 6 right now and is already excited para bautizarse en 2 años!
This is my super cute umbrella a random guy gave me cause we were out in a flash flood with only one umbrella. Yes, I am wearing a sweater and yes, it was probably no less that 80 degrees. That’s COLD here.

A member bought us doughnuts from some guy selling them out of his van in the streets. Yes, it’s common and yes, it was delicious. I have no parasites so far.
