Hola a todos!
Sorry in advance that there are no photos this week. We’re in a new place typing and there’s a rule that we can’t plug our cameras in. Don’t worry though, we’re typing somewhere else next week so I can send them later.
But to formally introduce my new companions: I’m in a trio right now with Hermana Antonie de la Republica Dominicana (who fears iguanas more than death itself) y Hermana Montoya de Mexico (who loves to sing hymns with me in the calle loud and proud). They both struggle with English, as in they don’t speak any English, so it’s been a little crazy trying to communicate everything in Spanish. It’s been literally a week since I’ve spoken any English and my head hurts. Lol. President really wants me to learn Spanish quick.
I’m learning all kinds of things from them, they both have 10 months on the mission and I’m pretty sure we’re going to be a great trio. We’ve got a good balance in our lessons and as of right now we have 4 baptisms planned for this month. How crazy!
Our mission is trying to work super hard to baptize this last transfer because it’s the last transfer of Presidente Boucher. I’m excited to meet the new president. I’m sure we’ll see plenty of miracles with him and his wife.
We’re all excited for dia de madres because we get to see our families! I’ll be calling via skype or something along those lines around 4:30 pm my time. If you want to see me, talk to my parents. The timing isn’t seguro though, it could be subject to change between now and next Sunday, but just be ready 🙂
This last week we were walking to Krispy Kreme for P day along a low-key highway (it’s like a 2-hour walk) and we took a shortcut through this old field. Wow. De verdad, I can’t even begin to tell you how huge and crazy iguanas are. We saw 11 full sized, adultish iguanas. They’re crazy looking creatures. Sometimes I think they must just be tiny dinosaurs. And yes, we got Krispy Kreme. I suggest you try the dulce de leche donas. They’re fantastic.
I called this letter El Juego Gripe, aka The Flu Game cause I’m currently stuffed up and dying a little bit with some weird little sickness that’s super annoying. But we’re still working hard. I know that the Lord will bless us if we continue. So prayer for my salud would be great. I just hope we can get what we need to done this upcoming week. We’ve got some great people were teaching.
Instead of a scripture this week, I’m going to suggest a song from the primary. I’ve been studying them in Spanish for my idioma study and I’ve been thinking a lot about “A child prayer,” I think that’s what it’s called in English. I think we all have times in our lives when we wonder if Padre Celestial is listening to us. It’s easy to doubt his existence if we’re struggling. But I promise you guys that through prayer, we can gain the faith necessary for us to receive the answers he gives us. He is waiting, with arms open for us to pray and talk to him.
This week I’m going to try to pray a little better, ‘cause we can always be a little better. 🙂
Hasta luego, les amo mucho,
Hermana Thelin
