Santa vaca

Hola a todos!

Estoy muy feliz hoy por que solo tengo 5 dias en el CCM antes de el campo! yo sé que yo no habló sobre muchas cosas em mi emails, pero yo tritariá hoy. punto uno: I’m almost out of here!

I came to el CCM excited to do some missionary work por Dios, pero it’s been hard to be here just going to classes all day and only going out into el campo once a week. I want so badly to just leave these gates and start helping people, I find nothing more exciting than when I’m walking down the streets and visiting in people homes and I can feel the spirit of Christ with me as I talk with people.

But here at el CCM it’s been a struggle to feel like I’m actually doing anything. I love all the words of encouragement I get from you guys in emails.  It really keeps me going knowing that people understand my struggles and I hope that you all keep writing me as I venture into Puerto Rico.

There are tons of people I know I can help, and I know that I’m here for one reason and that’s be an example of Christ and preach his good word. Every day all I can think is how much easier this whole thing would be if I didn’t have to learn a new language and I was just doing this in English, but I know that Dios is trying to help me become better and he’s helping me mientra el don del linguas. In 5 days I’ll be out on the streets of Puerto Rico thinking of you guys and trying to share the word of God is Spanish. Pray for me! Even a small “Dios, por favor ayuda Hermana Thelin” would be appreciated. I know God will answer your prayers by helping me be the best missionary I can be.

Remember how I mentioned I needed a few books sent to me in PR for my birthday, padres? Well, here are the two I realllllllly need. “A Little Book of Missionary Reminders” by Mark W. Newman and “30 Ways to Love Your Mission” by Joseph l. Bishop. They were lended to me by a friend here and I used quotes from them to help mi compañeras and write my talks. I don’t need them right away, but a birthday package with those in them would be amazing.

Tambien, I learned this trick from an Elder Aswell, kids here don’t have a lot of fun things, and they’re all reallllllly poor. I don’t have a lot to give them, but apparently stickers are the way to go. I’ll try to buy some in PR but if you come across any super cool huge sticker packs that I can give out to kids let me know. They’re all basically like Maggie and Tilley with the whole stickers everywhere when you give them any.

Talking about Mags and Tilley! I have their pictures on the wall next to my desk and I look at their pictures every day because they make me just so happy. Let them know that my compañeras think they’re super cute too.

Funny story. So my teacher Hermano Jiminez is always telling me weird things, but he said something really hilarious the other day. I had a bunch of little gold rings on from Forever 21 the other day and he told me if I walk out on the streets wearing them people might cut off my fingers. Crazy thought, but apparently even the idea of gold is super dangerous here.

Let’s talk a little about last Friday! I went out into el campo with a trainer for a day of splits and it was so cool! We went into this tiny little bario that was so poor I was amazed. There were a lot of kids sin ropas running around paying baseball and all the adult men were playing dominos. (Which Elder Glissmeyer taught me how to play dominos today and I’m really good. Thanks for the skills Grampa Mike. We taught a lot of less actives here.

Dios te ama.

Hermana Thelin
