Madeline Becomes Sister Training Leader

This morning, we received an email from President Dixon of the California Redlands Mission.  He announced that Madeline has been called to be a Sister Training Leader.

For those not familiar with this designation, let me provide a little background.  Like other things in the Lord’s church, missions have an order that allows the work to be done effectively.  The leadership of a mission is the Mission President and his wife.  Under that, you have missionaries that are designated as Assistants to the President.  They coordinate with other missionary leadership, namely Zone Leaders and District Leaders.

The smallest group is a companionship.  It is a missionary and their companion.  Typically, anywhere from 2-5 companionships are in a district and there is a District Leader, one missionary from the district, who leads that group and reports to the Zone Leaders.  Zone Leaders are two missionaries who lead a group of Districts.  The number of districts varies but is typically more than 5.

As I understand it, Sister Training Leaders are the equivalent of Zone Leaders. As you will see from the email below, these sisters have a lot of responsibility and are not only dedicated but effective leaders.

We are very proud that Madeline has dedicated herself to the work of the Lord and lived to be worthy of such a calling.  This will be another way that she can learn even more while serving her fellow brothers and sisters.

Dear Family,

We are writing to let you know that Sister Madeline Laura Thelin, has been called to serve as a Sister Training Leader in the California Redlands Mission.  She has been called to this position because of her commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ, and for her ability to lead and motivate others. We are confident that Sister Thelin will continue to set an example that the Lord expects all missionaries to follow.

Sister Training Leaders are full members of the Mission Leadership Council and Zone Leadership Councils. They are responsible to extend training to all sisters they are assigned and to follow up on training through exchanges. In addition, they also are responsible to lead out their zone in service and represent their zone as a member of the JustServe committee. All accountability for service hours are coordinated through Sister Training Leaders in the California Redlands Mission.

Thank you for all that you are doing to provide support for this missionary.  We are truly blessed to have her serving in this part of the Lord’s vineyard.

Sincerely yours,

Sean Romney Dixon,
President
California Redlands Mission
