Hola a todos! <Hello everyone!>
Well, what an interesting week, huh? We had a lovely time with our dear friend Hurricane Irma. I would like to say that I #SurvivedIrma but really nothing too crazy happened here in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. So I guess I’ll just say #AlmostSurvivedIrmaButInAGoodWay. Is that too long for a hashtag? It’s been too long since I’ve hashtagged anything I’ve forgotten the rules jaja <LOL>.
Anyways, here’s the sitch:
As you may have seen from the emails my president sent out, we were asked to come home at 5:00 pm on Tuesday and we didn’t leave until about 2:00 pm on Thursday. All of our windows and doors were covered with metal sheets and plastic bags for protection and we cleaned the crap out of our house so that things couldn’t fall on us while the hurricane was hurricaining.
We found a tiny hole in a wall that we used to look outside sometimes to check on the destruction. But in reality, there wasn’t really any destruction outside our house. I would say the hurricane messed up inside our house more than the outside. We brought all our beds out and we made a Pangea bed to last the days away in the safest part of our house – away from windows and doors – and we stayed there. For a long time. About 46 hours. 46 hOuRS. (see photo #2). I am the pile of pillows that is too tired to appear in a photoshoot.
We had to shut off our water and electricity, so it was basically the hottest sauna that you could imagine. I personally like to call it our tuna can because it was miserably hot and we had a limited supply of food that included tuna, crackers, PB and TAKIS! (see photo #3). Huge shout out to my motha for her huge gift of knowing exactly when I need things. She sent this package out with a heck ton of Takis like a month ago and I got the package literally the Saturday before the hurricane. She has a GIFT. A gift I tell you. 🙂
We had to live off of water gallons and couldn’t shower for the whole time and I was hot and sweaty and we looked horrible (see photo #1) we got our power on Friday night and water too. But I’ve been told it’s tOO dirty to drink still, so I’m just chillin’ with my water jugs. Jaja <LOL>. We had a huge adventure with this hurricane and I think I’ll never forget the time I lived in a tuna can.
I’m sorry, not much time today because we’re going crazy cleaning the house from all the mess we made. I love you all, and more updates on other things later.
